Son of Vernon and Rosie Freeman formerly of Berridon Hall Bradworthy  Devon. (1891 Census) His mother Rosie remarried Lewis Craven following divorce and was living at  Weare Gifford Hall, (1911 census) An experienced  researcher following the life of Noels brother Richard (Royal Navy) reports that around 1917 the family had connections to "Riversford" Limers Lane  Northam. Rosie was possibly the benefactor of the new altar in Lady Chapel in St Margarets Church. A diamond shaped brass plate in memory of Noel Freeman is placed in the alter step.
