Thomas was at Clifton College Bristol in 1911 Census aged 16 years. He firstly served with the Royal Field Artillery, before joining the 64th Sqdn of the Royal Flying corps,which was formed in 1916.

Son of Maj. Gen. W.E. Bunbury,C.B. and Mrs W E Bunbury Of Chope Barton Northam.
